Resist painting

Last week we had lots of rain and storms. We had great big hail stones pound down – Master D and his daddy ran outside to collect them 🙂 Then during the night we had some fantastic lightning so husband and I opened up the curtains during the storm and watched the show.

So because of the rain we were busy doing arts and crafts inside. My favourite of the week was resist painting.

We used proper box canvases and good acrylic paint. For one I put a masking tape ‘D’ on the canvas and for the other Master D put tape randomly about. Then he got painting. Little Miss Q loved watching 🙂

This is before taking the tape off:

And the end result! I love how the ‘D’ turned out!!

Warm wishes, Kelly

Beautiful! I wonder if it would work with water colors wet on wet painting as well! Will have to try it soon. Thank you for the idea! http://www.littlecrunchy.com

Love this idea! The colors are so bold and pretty. We did tape resist with water colors http://www.messforless.net/2011/11/watercolor-art-you-cant-resist.html and the kids loved it. Visiting from Adventures in Mommyland.

Wow these are fantastic – right I am off to buy some cheap canvases. I haven’t tried Goblin with real acrylic paint (he makes enough mess with poster paint) but I might just risk it if those are the results.

Thanks for sharing at Sharing Saturday! I was thinking about this project earlier today when Hazel and I were painting her Christmas presents. I saved one canvas so we may try it some time this week.
