Happy lil ❤’s are baking #4

What did you bake with your little ones this week? Or, if you don’t have anything new we’d love to see something from your archives 😉

Below is a linky list to join in the fun and start sharing what you bake with your children so we can inspire each other. Family favourites, new recipes, traditional or cultural recipes – you name it, we’d like to read about them and if you include the details, try them out 🙂

For our baking day this week Master D and I made ANZAC biscuits. These biscuits are a traditional biscuit in Australia and New Zealand (they stand for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and a version were made and sent to our soldiers during WW1.
So because today is ~ Australia Day ~ they seemed appropriate 🙂 You need:
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup coconut
3/4 cup flour
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 tsp bicarb
2 tbsp hot water
1/2 cup butter

Melt the butter in a saucepan with the golden syrup.

Once melted add the bicarb and hot water – enjoy watching it bubble!

Add the dry ingredients and mix well (no longer on the hot plate).

Roll the mixture into balls and place on tray – allow a good amount of space because these biscuits spread.

Bake for around 15 minutes at 160°C (about 320°F)

I always aim for biscuits that are slightly crunchy on the outside but chewy in the middle – yum!
We can’t wait to see what you are baking!
