Birthday bunting

I have a bit of a thing for bunting…
I also have a thing for rainbows & birthdays
So when you pop all these lovely things together you get
beautiful rainbow birthday bunting!

Making birthday bunting has been on my list for awhile
And finally, just before Winter I started creating my own
Using some beautiful wool felt… in rainbow colours
hand sewn with rainbow thread
{is there such a thing as too much rainbow?}
Then I got stuck.
My pennants were made, and needed to be joined together.
For some reason though, I have developed a bit of sewing machine fear
Luckily my friend Andj came to the rescue with some hand sewn bias binding for me…
and my mother-in-law sewed the bunting together
A special team effort then *smile*
I’m hoping this bunting will be a special part of our family birthdays
Something that the kids see that brings a little bit of ceremony to our celebrations

Happy days,
Kelly

It is beautiful (from one rainbow and bunting lover to another) and I completely understand your fear of the sewing machine – mine still terrifies me but I find it useful to blame failed projects on (as it is obviously posessed in some way) lol

Rainbows and buntings are a favourite combination of mine too, though I have yet to make one! We have a birthday coming up so I’ll be sewing a bunting today. My daughter loves turquoise and pink so since it’s for her room after the party is over, I have to abide by her colour choices! tee hee.

It’s gorgeous! I love hand sewn things (but then I love machine sewn things too). I’ve used our fabric letters for many birthdays, but a bunting is on my to-do list as well.
