A felt rabbit and toadstool

Waldorf Autumn craft

Easter in the Southern Hemisphere is an interesting conundrum in some ways. Celebrating a festival more suited to the awakening Earth in Spring while slowly moving towards a time of introspection and slumber. And yet, even in the season where the leaves fall and the Earth quietens, new life and renewal occurs.

I have been watching our baby chicks and seeing Autumn bulbs poke through the ground. And in between other moments I found time to sit in my sun room sewing. I enjoy the slowness of hand sewing and the quiet it brings. And so I sat and created a simple Easter bunny and an Autumn toadstool.

For the bunny I adapted the sweet mouse pattern from Rhythm & Rhyme. Adding a wool felt ball tail, and choosing sweet bunny coloured felt. Longer bunny shape ears and a pretty pink nose. Put it all together and a bunny I had made.

The magical toadstool was inspired by Twig and Toadstool. I needle felted the spots on top, and the greenery at the base.

I wrapped them up in a playsilk, together with a rainbow Easter egg and sent them to a craft swap partner.

I hope you all have a lovely Easter.

Blessings, Kelly

I love that the mushroom is big enough to be held by hand 🙂 Your adaptation of the mouse pattern looks great, clever lady!
