He loves to read them over and over again. Pointing to all the things, telling me when he sees a doll, a cat or a boat. Three of his favourites board books are wordless. Books that allow children to create their own stories and really take their time enjoying beautiful illustrations. Books that I hadn’t appreciated myself until I saw my own children respond to them. Our 5 favourite board books Rain or Shine by Ronald Heuninck is a sweet wordless board board that illustrates the fun children can enjoy outside no matter the weather. With beautiful soft illustrations of children feeding the ducks in the rain, jumping rope in the sunshine, picking apples in the Autumn this is a truly lovely book. And one that can be enjoyed all year round as it shows the year through the seasons. For more seasonal board books you can’t go past the lovely collection from Gerda Muller of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
