Making pretty things ~ melted bead bowls

We enjoy making beautiful things…
Colourful, bright, and pretty
We were very taken with melted bead bowls when we discovered them
{although I can’t remember where we first spotted them}

We bought some lovely Hama beads… sparkly ones, rainbow ones and some pastels…

After greasing an oven proof bowl Dino Boy pushed the beads down…
 until there was a single layer reaching up the sides
Then into the oven it went at 200°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes

Once it was cool I peeled it away from the glass bowl
and we turned it into a hat?!

Aren’t they pretty *smile*

Can’t wait to make more!

Happy crafting, Kelly

Queen Bee and the Dragon

Sometimes when I lay out crafting supplies I am so happily surprised to see where they take us…
Dino Boy started by drawing a spiral…
‘like a snail’

Then the colourful crepe paper seemed to say to him… we are flowers
While the glue became pollen…

I watch his creativity unfold in front of me and it is incredible…
…full of small details and intention {and always lots of glue}
With flowers and pollen what else do you need, he seemed to think…
‘bees! can we make bees?’

‘the bees are getting the pollen…’
I stepped back some more and saw him create a whole little world…
…complete with a whimsical door, gnome and dragon!
And while I sat sipping my cup of tea he weaved a story…
One day a gnome was walking in the garden
The worker bees were busy working…
…collecting nectar
Then the weather changed
A dragon chased the Queen Bee
It caught her and hurt her wing
The Queen Bee fell… Bzzz bzzzz
Then the dragon fell… landing on prickly bushes...
Lots of dramatic flair *smile*
And a happy little sister watching, listening…
and decorated?!

Happy days, Kelly
