My favorite thing about Waldorf… the idea that there is a right time for all things and that the “right thing” can become the “wrong thing” if it’s given at the wrong time. that childhood is honored — not hurried. That childhood is valued — not something to be rush through to get onto the important living. Well, I guess I’ll stop now (; –Mama youknowwhatmama at gmail dot com

wow I was only thinking the other day that an alphabet chart would be a good thing! The thing that I love about Waldorf is that it so right. Each time I read about Waldorf and child development I am struck that yes that is just what has / is happening with my own children.

I love how hthe Waldrof embraces the whole child, mother earth, and the parents in a respectful way that encourages love for everyone involve. children are encourage to think for themselves, as well as use their imagination. I know for my point of view as a parent I feel conflicts are resolve more peacefully and I am teaching my children respect and receiving their respect back as well.

Thank you for the wonderful giveaway Kelly, very beautiful! What drew me to Waldorf was it’s emphasis on storytelling and the integration of art into learning. I also love how the curriculum follows the age and needs of the child. Cheers!

There are so many things I love about waldorf, but the thing that transformed my life with rhythm. Realizing that giving a child rhythm gives them peace and that when our kids are at peace, the rest falls into place.

    Thanks

I actually worked in the natural food industry for years and was very into biodynamic farming which in turn lead me to read more or Steiner’s works on Anthroposophy and Education, but I would be lying if I didn’t admit the “Waldorf aesthetic” didn’t lure me in even more. Honoring the natural rhythms of our world fit in nicely with the simple life we were already leading.

  • Reply SolDucky November 2, 2012 at 10:56 pm

So beautiful! I love how it lets my kids really feel their emotions in a calm way, rather than an out of control one. It is wonderful to see them sit and study their world so intently too.

Waldorf to our little family is the slowing down, the celebration of the rhythm of days, weeks, seasons. The celebration of childhood… to play, without judgement, without being right or wrong, the unhurried child. This beautiful alphabet would be a great addition to us as we venture into Waldorf homeschooling, they hold a lot of potential storytelling.

  • Reply Heather Brandt November 6, 2012 at 9:27 pm

I love how gentle Waldorf is for younger children and how it meets children where they are. It seems so much more developmentally appropriate for children.
